Proposed project would create job, educational, and business opportunities
in western region of Commonwealth
August 14, 2009 - Continuing the Patrick Administration’s commitment to bring affordable, reliable broadband to all citizens of the Commonwealth, the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI), a division of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC), is submitting proposals this week for a total of $105 million in federal stimulus funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. GOVERNOR PATRICK INVESTS $4.3 MILLION IN WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS BROADBAND EXPANSION PROJECT
Partnership between Massachusetts Broadband Institute and Executive Office of Transportation will create jobs, business expansion and educational opportunities
NORTHAMPTON – Tuesday, July 28, 2009 (released by Governor's press office) – As part of the Patrick-Murray Administration’s Massachusetts Recovery Plan to secure the state’s economic future, Governor Deval Patrick today announced a new partnership between the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) and the Executive Office of Transportation (EOT) to bring broadband to unserved and underserved communities in Western Massachusetts. Joined by elected leaders and administration officials at the MassHighway District 2 office in Northampton, the Governor said $4.3 million in state bond funds will help build out broadband networks to enhance service for small businesses, schools and individuals and improve security and transportation operations in the area.
